I’m starting this very early to see if I follow my original plan of adding to the post here and there during the week so that I don’t end up falling asleep writing this post this week. Or, as George Harrison wrote in the lyric to the Beatles song ‘Old Brown Shoe’, “I'll make an early start, I'm making sure that I'm not late…”
Update: I got exactly one item on the list during the week. There’s always next week, isn’t there?

The Power of Grace - on the topic of inherited guilt (Twitter Thread, Larry Alex Taunton)
It’s nice to see new posts from the Mystic Sisters. I had to catch up a bit, but this is a post on Christianity and Harry Potter. For anyone who wants to get deep into the subject, I would recommend John Granger’s excellent book Looking for God in Harry Potter.
LifeSite News - Thousands gather in defense of Christ as LA Dodgers honor blasphemous drag 'nuns' - In the end, there are more Catholics than Dodger fans.
Raymii.org - My 24 year old HP Jornada can do things your modern iPhone still can't do! - I don’t pretend to understand all that he’s talking about here, but considering all the old gadgets in my house, I’d love to figure out ways to keep them useful!

Not The Bee - Archeologists discover 3,000-year-old sword buried in the German mud—and it's still shiny . At least it wasn’t a bomb. I kid you not, after having lived in Bavaria, every few months, something would be closed down for a day or two because an unexploded bomb from WWII had been discovered. Hopefully the day will come soon when all of those things are gone.

Watching
I remember this vaguely as a kid, and it seems like the type of thing Nickelodeon was airing in 1985, before Nick at Nite, and even before they had much original programming at all. This is from Japan circa 1974, and it’s beautiful, and extremely faithful to the book (and runs some 50-odd episodes). I

Team Recorder - Pro recorder player reacts to the BBC/Guardian media controversy. - Yes, the media will always make fun of recorder players. Even other musicians will as well!
Books
I still haven’t managed to finish the Spiritual Warfare book by Joy Corey. There’s so much to do in the house, books kind of get set aside.
I have one library book, “Windswept House” by Malachi Martin. I’ve renewed it once, but hopefully I don’t have to do it again.
I received two books that I won through
. Two books by Aubrey Taylor, historical fiction set in Germany.I bought a boxed set of C.S. Lewis nonfiction at Costco. It called to me. $30 for seven books. I’ve ready a couple of the books out of it, but that was years ago, and I didn’t own any of the seven.
Lord, I have a Barnes and Noble Gift Certificate from Mother’s Day, and I’m itching to put an order in.
Music
Cynthia Weil, the famous Brill Building songwriter, died recently. I’d never heard this song before, but it topped this list (https://johnkassnews.com/a-tribute-to-cynthia-weil-her-ten-best/) of top ten songs Cynthia Weil wrote.

Some miscellaneous information on the 743rd Tank Battalion in WWII
This looks amazing. I have one “real life” friend who walked across Spain, and an internet friend who walked from France to Israel. These pilgrimage trails across Norway look amazing - https://www.visitnorway.com/things-to-do/outdoor-activities/hiking/pilgrimage-on-the-st-olav-ways/. It’s one of those things that I think “maybe someday”. Anybody want to go with me?
And, of course, a little bit about St. Olaf to go with that: https://orthodoxwiki.org/Olaf_of_Norway
Laugh a Little
Mildly inappropriate, but hilarious!
I realize I’m referencing Eminem twice in one post… eep!
