Good observations, Katja. This and other podcasts had me watch, twice, this video podcast of Fr. Tom Hopko’s talk on “Christianity and Armageddon”. A good primer on the Orthodox perspective on the End Times, and any “signs” of this. He is sooo good.
It's funny, when I first came into Orthodoxy, of course I noticed a lot of differences, but theologically, I considered a lot of what I had been taught as a Protestant to be incomplete rather than flat-out wrong. I still believe that to a large extent, but in many ways, it feels like I've been walking a long time down a nondescript path and it's only in turning around that I realize how far I am from where I started here.
Dispensationalism is infused into most of the Protestant eschatology in most of the conservative churches. Poison! I grew up with it and it is taught everywhere. - pretribulation rapture, premillennialism.
