"Saint Alexander of Munich - New Martyr of the White Rose Resistance" - book impressions
This is probably not the kind of review the publisher would like
I was given the book “Saint Alexander of Munich - New Martyr of the White Rose Resistance” by a friend, and for that, I am very grateful. It’s a beautiful book! Before even opening it, though, I joked that I may know to much about St. Alexander to be a good reader of the book. After reading it tonight, I’m not all that impressed, and I’ve spent hours detailing why. While that’s all interesting, I think the larger point is that even when it comes to saints, we need to be careful to tell their stories and not the stories of who we’d like them to be. Tough but fair.
What a shame that this story is marred by lack of attention to these easily checked details.
