I wonder if he's gotten to a place where he's kind of second-guessing his work. The Orthodox Church definitely has a "Who am I to ____?" ethos that's not false humility. I definitely feel like God has called me to write, but sometimes I can't fathom why. On the other hand, I've lived having Orthodoxy's online presence mean a lot to me - my only real contact to English-speaking Orthodox for years - so I understand keenly how it can be a positive force as well. And if God wants it that way, why not me? He knows me better than I know myself.

It's funny, one of the first people I came into contact with in the Orthodox world is a retired bishop. Coming from a Protestant background, I didn't recognize the significance of that until much later, but even with him, I never considered him infallible (and most of what he wrote about was not related to Church doctrine). I've worked a lot (though not recently) on certain projects - Orthodox blogs at Orthodoxwiki, an Orthodox school project, stuff with St. Alexander of Munich, and other things... It is what it is, but I've also gotten to know a lot of people along the way & I also feel a calling to connect our community together. Some of it is online, but there's a lot offline that I don't talk about because it doesn't belong here. Who am I indeed? At the same time, imagine what Impact we could have if each of us listened to God calling us and actually followed!

Sorry, Substack was glitching badly for me last night and this morning. Ever since they added direct messages, it seems like every weekend something breaks. I'm running Ubuntu rather than Windows or a Mac, so... I'm the group whose problems gets dealt with last. I see you did make a 'disclaimer' post. I do really like the stuff you do post, the verses and quotes and things especially. I'm subscribed to something of Jay Dyer's on Discord, but I never check it. I think one of Dyer's issues isn't necessarily that he has things wrong, but he seems to encourage a certain attitude of superiority, which is kind of against what Orthodoxy teaches. I saw Not the Bee's coverage of the stabbing of the bishop at the Assyrian Church in Sydney this morning, mind you, their readership skews VERY evangelical, and even they could put down the sectarian stuff for the morning, at least. Then, in the comments someone posted "But he's a Nestorian heretic!" and... it reminded me of the Orthobro type stuff, and I highly suspect it was someone Orthodox who posted that. And that's shameful, because we should be known for love, not kicking someone when they're down.
